Scheduling Intersession Courses

Intersession courses are scheduled using your PAWS Account.  Courses available for scheduling in Intersession terms can be found in the University Registrar's Schedule Booklet.

Students may not enroll in Intersession terms if they are determined to be academically ineligible at the end of the preceding semester.  In addition, students may not enroll in Intersession terms if they have been dropped from the university and are not eligible for readmission until a date occurring later than the Intersession term. (Important:  See Intersession Schedule Booklets at www.lsu.edu/registrar for additional details regarding academic eligibility and/or academic policies.)

Fee Bills

Fee bills are available online and must be paid via PAWS using on-line check, bank draft, or credit card.  They can also be paid at the Office of Bursar Operations.  Intersession fees can also be paid by mail.

Fee waivers, student aid, scholarships, and deferred payment plans are not available for Intersession terms.

Intersession Fees

Tuition and fees for Intersession terms can be found at the LSU Budget and Planning website, http://www.bgtplan.lsu.edu/fees.htm.

Requests for Classes That are Full

When attempting to schedule a class that is full, contact the faculty member or staff in that department to see if it is possible to be added to the class.   With written authorization from the faculty member, the Intersession office will assist in scheduling the course, although, certain circumstances, such as classroom size, may make it impossible to add additional students to class sections.

Parking for Intersession Term

Students must register their vehicles to park on campus during all Intersession terms.   Those who have purchased a full-year permit are eligible to park on campus during all Intersession terms.  A one-month parking permit must be purchased for Intersession if the vehicle was not registered for either the entire year or the semester or summer term immediately preceding the Intersession term.  Questions about parking should be directed to the Office of Parking, Traffic and Transportation at 578-5000 or www.lsu.edu/parking.

Who to Contact if Classes Are Purged

Because of the condensed timeframe of Intersession, it is very important to respond quickly if classes are purged for nonpayment.  If this occurs before the last day to add courses in the term, classes may be re-added using PAWS.  It the purge occurs after the last day to add, contact your academic counselor (not the Intersession Office) to request to late add the class.  You will need written permission from the faculty member to re-add after the official last day to add.

For registration to be complete, all fees must be paid at the Office of Bursar Operations.

Dropping Classes or Resigning

If only one class is scheduled during Intersession, dropping that course cannot be completed using PAWS, as the system will not let students drop their “last” class.

Dropping one’s only class for Intersession entails resigning for the term.  This requires contacting the academic counselor in the dean's office of your academic college to complete a resignation request.

Please note:  Staff in the Intersession Office are not authorized to handle students’ resignations.  This can only be done through the student’s individual college counselor.
